Upcoming Dates!
BNWPS is planning a Winter Solstice community event after school on Friday 19 June.
This is an early-stage collaboration between CET and OSHC, and will be a relaxed after-school gathering for families to mark the winter season. In the Wurundjeri seasonal calendar, this period is known as Waring (wombat season), a time that aligns with colder, quieter winter conditions.
The event is planned to recognise the Winter Solstice (20 June), the longest night of the year, and to bring our community together in a warm, winter-themed celebration.
In previous years, the event has included lantern making, fire pits with marshmallow and damper roasting, warm drinks, informal school band and choir performances, and storytelling with Uncle Trev. We are currently working toward a similar winter/ Waring -themed community celebration.
Further details will be shared as planning is confirmed, and while we greatly value and appreciate community participation, we will also be calling for volunteers to help support the event. A sign-up sheet will be released closer to the date.
In the meantime, if you’d like to be involved in the Event Planning process, please contact the CET email (see below) and we can add you to the Solstice planning group chat.
Our much-loved Annual Trivia Night returns for another fun, adults-only evening out. Parents, carers, teachers and staff are all invited to come together off-site for a night of connection, laughs and a little friendly competition.
Think costumes (encouraged, not essential), raffles, auctions, food, drinks and dancing.
It’s always a highlight of the year — and one of our biggest fundraisers for the school.
Lock it in your calendar and start lining up childcare now — more details on the way!

If you want to get in touch about community events, inquire about joining the team, or have any questions at all, email Brigid Morgan (CET Co-Ordinator) at cet@brunswicknwps.vic.edu.au
We always welcome new volunteers, with flexible and low-pressure ways to get involved — reach out if you’re interested or have any questions (see email below).
Please note: the Community Events Team (CET) and Spring Magic Market (SMM) teams are separate.
Spring Magic Market is a major BNWPS annual event, with more details coming later in the year. For enquiries about market planning or stalls, please contact market@brunswicknwps.vic.edu.au.
(Families are very welcome to be involved in both teams.)
** All volunteers at the school need a valid Working With Children’s Check - click this link to apply if you don’t have one. It’s fairly straightforward and free for volunteers**
