Supporting Staff Wellbeing: A Fun-Filled Afternoon for our Staff

Each newsletter, I often share ways in which we support student wellbeing, but today I wanted to share an update about staff wellbeing, because our wonderful staff matter too! Last week, we decided to mix things up a bit and replace one of our weekly professional learning sessions with an afternoon of fun and relaxation. We gave our staff the chance to opt in to a preferred activity that would not only boost their wellbeing but also provide an opportunity to connect and collaborate with each other.

In one of the most exciting activities, we had our very own Pickleball tournament. It was a blast learning the rules of this new game that has become a hit in the schoolyard. It was an exciting final match, with Mr Mather and Miss Strbac Low facing off against Miss Wasson and Mr Smith. In the end, Miss Wasson and Mr Smith emerged victorious. Well done to them both!

Meanwhile, Miss Harris and Mrs Taylor hosted a cozy "snack and stream" afternoon. This group enjoyed delicious snacks while watching the classic TV show, Friends. Fun fact: this was Mr Harris’ first time ever watching Friends!

For those seeking some peace and tranquillity, Miss Katz, Miss Hanks, and Miss Veneris led a group through soothing stretches, yoga, and mindfulness activities. Miss Katz, a former yoga teacher, shared her expertise, leaving everyone feeling wonderfully zen. We truly have a talented team!

And the creativity didn't stop there. Mrs Myszka took a group outside for a relaxing and artistic project, painting the poles in our inclusive play space. The colourful designs have really brightened up our play space! Head to the Visual Arts page to for more on Art as Therapy.

These fun-filled activities not only provided a break from the usual routine but also reminded us of the importance of taking time to recharge and enjoy each other’s company. Supporting the wellbeing of our staff is just as important as supporting our students, and we're thrilled to have had such a fun afternoon together. Here’s to more afternoons filled with fun, laughter, and connection!
