Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

As this is our final Newsletter for 2025 I would like to, on behalf of all the staff, wish all our students and their families a wonderful Christmas and a relaxing break. The events in Bondi remind all of us to never take each other for granted, particularly at this very special time of the year.

As Pope Frances stated back in 2022;

" ‘From the manger, the child Jesus asks us to be the voice of those who have no voice. The voice of the innocent children who have died for lack of bread and water; the voice of those who cannot find work or who have lost their jobs; the voice of those forced to flee their lands in search of a better future. "

Let us pray together that 2026 becomes the year that the World says "NO MORE" to violence.....in our homes, in our Country and across every continent.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION COORDINATOR

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Kirsten Kirkwood Yule to the position of Religious Education Coordinator at our School, beginning in 2026.

Kirsten is an experienced REC, having worked in the position at St Gabriel's Bexley for the past three years. Prior to that she had worked at OLR Kensington and St Brigid's Coogee.

I am sure that you will join with me in welcoming Kirsten to our School.

I would like to acknowledge the incredible service to this community of Nicole Moss who is taking on the role of Assistant Principal in another Catholic School. Nicole has been a light of faith for all our students and the time and effort that has put into all aspects of school life have been inspiring. She will be greatly missed.

UNIFORM SUPPLIER

After an extensive tender process a decision has been made to award the School Uniform contract to YERONGA SCHOOL UNIFORMS.

This decision was based on the fact that;

• They have a store in the local area that parents / carers can visit outside of school hours.

• They have an online ordering portal and are happy to deliver orders to home (at a cost) or to the School (free of charge)

• They supply the College.

• They provide a uniform made from quality products and follow the anti-slavery guidelines.

• They are long-time financial supporters of the Catholic Education Foundation which provides bursaries for needy families.

• They provide a uniform that is comparable, and in some cases cheaper, to other suppliers.

My thanks to Vicki Raguz (Sydney Catholic Schools) for facilitating and chairing the tender process along with Mr Heelis (AP), Mrs Mitsoulas (Financial Secretary) and Nicole Hudson (Parent rep).

At this stage we are looking at these new arrangements beginning at the start of Term 2, 2026. This is when the students begin to wear the winter uniform.

This will provide time to relinquish our current stock before the new supplier takes over.

This may mean that, at some point, some items of our uniform will not be available. This is unavoidable. However the School will provide alternatives for families during that time.

While the prices will be higher, they will be on par with what families in other Catholic Schools in our area are paying.

I would like to acknowledge the work that has been done by Elizabeth Wilson, Kaye Palmano and Helen Williams who have worked tirelessly, without being paid, to ensure the success of the Uniform Shop over many years. Their selfless generosity has made this arrangement possible.

These three wonderful ladies have agreed to continue to provide this service until the new arrangements come into effect and then they have agreed to continue to run a second-hand uniform shop throughout 2026.
