St Vincent De Paul Advent Giving Drive

As we approach this year’s Advent season, OLA is delighted to host our annual Advent Giving Drive in partnership with our OLA branch of St Vincent de Paul. Each year, this initiative provides an opportunity for our community to spread joy in the spirit of giving.

The Advent Giving Drive supports children aged 0-17, ensuring they experience a special and memorable Christmas. Many of these children are teenagers, so gift cards (e.g. for music, sport or shopping) are especially appreciated. We are also collecting festive treats such as puddings, chocolates, and biscuits, to contribute to the hampers St Vincent de Paul assembles for families in need.

If you’d like to participate, please consider donating a gift card or festive treat. A box has been placed in the front office for any donations.

We kindly ask that all contributions are brought to the school by Monday 1 December. This allows time for the Vinnies group to wrap hampers and deliver to those in need by 5 December so families know what they have and don't have.

Thank you for your generosity and support in making this Advent season a joyful time for all.

Advent

Advent is a special season in the Christian calendar. It's a time for getting ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus at Christmas. This year, Advent starts this Sunday 30 November.

Week 1 - Hope

God of hope,

Give us hearts of hope to help us see as you do.

Lead us to be people of hope in our homes, in our school and in our world.

Come, Lord Jesus. Amen

Week 2 - Peace

Peaceful God,

May all in our human family who live with fighting and unrest especially those in Ukraine, feel your peace.

Show us spaces of peace in our lives, in the bright sunshine, the quiet rain, in the birds and the animals and the presence of our friends.

Lead each of us to be people of peace in our homes, in our school and in our world.

Come, Lord Jesus. Amen
