Year 8 Open Water Day

The Year 8 students attended an Open Water Lifesaving course at Sandridge Beach in Port Melbourne on Thursday, February 13th. Throughout the day, we engaged in a variety of fun activities designed to teach us how to stay safe at the beach. It was also a fantastic opportunity to connect with our peers.

The activities took place both in the water and on land, and since it was a hot day, the instructors planned extra water-based exercises to keep us cool. We learned how to recognize and avoid potential dangers, as well as how to assist others in distress. The day concluded with a friendly sandcastle-building competition, where students and teachers enthusiastically participated, all eager to win.

Overall, it was an enjoyable and educational experience, teaching us how to use everyday items to help save lives. On behalf of all the Year 8 students who attended, we would like to extend our gratitude to our mentor teachers and, in particular, Mr. Petrovski for organizing such a fantastic day. We look forward to many more exciting learning experiences in the future.
