Welcome to Term 2

Welcome to Term 2 as always we have a busy term planned with exciting events, busy learning classrooms and community events taking place in our great school! 

  

Congratulations and thank you to all of our families and students for the creativity that you put into your Easter bonnets last term.  The Easter bonnet parade really was a joyful celebration filled with colour and imagination. 

Music and Choir at SSPS

A warm welcome back to Mr Kahans who was on Long Service Leave in Term 1. It is great to have you back!  Mr Kahans is very excited to be starting a Year 3-6 SSPS choir this term. Mr Kahans will run choir auditions in the coming week and hopes to have the choir ready to perform at assembly and other school events soon. 

Community Engagement

We are fortunate to have such an active Parents Association here at Syndal South who work to add connection and community to our school and families. The two main goals of the Parents Association are building community and supporting fundraising.

 

Some of the activities and events that our fabulous PA are supporting are:

  • Cross country (including fruit for the students)

  • Mother’s Day staff

  • Second hand uniform and morning tea

 

Thank you to the volunteer parents and carers in our Parents Association for you work and support.

2027 Foundation Enrolments

We have been very pleased to welcome prospective families for school tours each Tuesday morning.  Enrolments are now open for 2027 Foundation families. I would like to encourage families with a younger sibling starting school next year to submit your enrolments as soon as possible.  This allows us to know how many positions we have available to new families. Applications are available from our website or via the office. If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call or drop in and say hello.

 

Enrolment for 2027 Foundation students is now done through the Insight portal.  Steps to follow are below (or pop in to the School Office and Michelle or Annette will be able to provide with step by step instructions).

 

2027 Foundation (Prep) Enrolments

All Victorian government primary schools follow the statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline. The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child at a Victorian government primary school.  

 

You can apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) in 2027 from Monday 20th April 2026. 

 

What you need to do: 

  1. Contact our school phone: 9802 5277 or email: syndal.south.ps@education.vic.gov.au to book an optional school tour. 

  2. Download the Foundation (Prep) enrolment information pack from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep). This pack includes guidance on the application process.  

  3. Submit an enrolment application by Friday 31st July 2026.  Our school uses the Department of Education’s secure digital enrolment system called VicStudents. This means you can submit your Foundation (Prep) application online and receive updates through the system. If you have any questions about the online enrolment process, please contact our school. Paper enrolment application forms are also available here. 

  4. You will be notified of the outcome of your application between Monday 3rd August and Friday 14th August 2026.

  5. If you receive an enrolment offer, you should accept the offer by Friday 28th August 2026.

  6. Take part in school transition sessions during Term 4, 2026.

  7. Prepare your child to start Foundation (Prep) from Thursday 28th January 2027. 

 

Enrolment applications submitted after 31st July 2026 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Enrolment Policy.
