Choir/Drama Performance
The year 5/6’s and the year 3/4’s all performed a song on Friday, 19th July.
Both songs were from musical films written by the popular composer Jay Manuel Miranda who is most famous for In the Heights, and Hamilton.
The Wombats and Karaks sang Welcome To Rosa’s from the movie Wish. It is a difficult song with Latina rhythms and changing beats inspired by street rap as well as musical theatre. The year 5/6’s met the challenge well and dressed up to be the citizens of Rosa’s welcoming the audience to town.
The Bobtails and Numbats sang How Far I’ll Go, Moana’s song about longing for the sea that is at the beginning of the movie. The Year Threes had sung the first verse and chorus a Capella last year, but this year the Year Fours joined them to sing the entire song with a backing track.
Both classes rehearsed during Choir and the 5/6’s had some extra time to rehearse during Drama class. The 5/6’s were able to add their own special skills to their performance with some tumbling, dancing, costume choices, and hair extensions added to add entertainment and fun.
A big congratulations to both classes. Congratulations are also due to Madeline, who became the new Drama Captain. Madeline has consistently participated in Drama with commitment and passion, often making choices that the whole class has been able to use as inspiration for their own work. She will be a good role model for the younger students as they begin their drama journey next semester.
