Principal's Report

Dear Families,

As we reach the end of a productive and rewarding Term 2, I want to extend my thanks to our students, staff and families for the energy, commitment and community spirit that continue to shape Pioneer Village School.

Introducing the Highway Heroes Program

Next term we begin the rollout of our whole‑school Social and Emotional Learning program, Highway Heroes. This evidence‑based program will support students to stay focused, regulated and ready for learning across all settings. The program will begin in Term 4 and continue through a staged implementation, with full delivery across all year levels by the end of 2028. An infographic with further information is attached for families who would like to explore the key skills and benefits.

Staffing Updates for Semester 2 

We have several staffing changes taking place next semester. Mackenzie Henderson will be joining our Pre‑Primary Possums class next term, stepping into the role currently held by Janine Friend. Janine will be leaving us at the end of this term. We sincerely thank her for her commitment to PVS and for the support she has provided to our students and families during her time with us. We wish her all the very best in her next chapter. Nataliya Paparone will be stepping into a part-time role in Sport and Music and Yalu Chen will step into a specialist role one day a week.

Anthea Peckzka will step into the Deputy Principal role on Mondays and Tuesdays, supporting students and families and leading the Year 3–6 team. Emma Gill will join the Deputy Principal job‑share on Wednesdays through to Fridays, supporting Kindy–Year 2 students and families. Both Anthea and Emma will continue in their existing leadership roles while also supporting the administration team.

Our Social Worker, Tino, will also be finishing at the end of this term. We thank her sincerely for her service to PVS and the wider community. The position is currently being advertised, and we expect the role to be filled next term.

School Re‑Registration 

I am pleased to share that our school re‑registration process has now been completed and submitted. Non‑government schools undertake this process every 3–5 years to ensure alignment with Department of Education requirements. We expect to receive our results and recommendations next semester.

Semester 1 Reports 

Semester 1 reports have now been published and emailed to families. We encourage you to take the time to discuss your child’s academic progress, social and emotional learning growth, and goals for the semester ahead.
