Victorian Child Safe Standards
Standard 9- Physical and online environments promote safety and wellbeing while minimising the opportunity for children and young people to be harmed.
Have you noticed a change in Haven's Facebook posts or Storypark?
These changes ensure Haven continues to align with and strengthen our compliance with the child safe standards including online environments.
- Haven has now made the decision that we will no longer be showing front facing photos of children on our Facebook page. This includes covering their faces with stickers/ blur etc as the ability for these to be edited, removed and shared is too high. Instead our focus will be on showcasing our educational programs, staff, family businesses and centre updates.
- Marketing photographs now also require individual permission forms outlining their usage, opportunities to withdraw and are updated each time new images are captured.
- Storypark has also changed its privacy settings so that images cannot be screenshotted or saved. This feature means that even if a screenshot is accidentally taken, or a device is shared or compromised, those images can't be captured and shared outside of Storypark.
- Risk minimisation plans, digital device registers and approved websites/apps are also in place across all of Haven This includes for all of our online devices (iPads, computers, whiteboards and camera's) to identify any risks to children's online safety and clearly outline their use, who is authorised to use and how images/ videos will be stored and shared.
A note on online safety
Children are apart of a digital society with this including communication methods, supporting their learning and also being used for relaxation and fun. However, being online does pose a safety risks for children, with an online in 2025 survey finding that 74% of children have came across/seen harmful content while online. https://www.esafety.gov.au/research/the-online-experiences-of-children-in-australia
Do you know how to keep children safe online?
The E Safety commissioner is a great resource website with a huge amount of information and advice for families, children and also educators.
This includes conversation starters, child books, recommendations for online platforms, advice on parental controls, links to support services, information on warning signs and a heap of interactive games/ videos for all ages. This website does also stress the importance of reporting any concerning online behaviour or content that you may come across to protect the whole society.

Access Fobs
A friendly reminder to please take good care of these fobs and treat them like you would your house keys/ wallet. Fobs that are being lost/ misplaced do place a massive security risk for Haven as someone would be able to gain easy access into our service. While we have measures in place to cancel fobs and lockdown the service we need to remain proactive in reducing risks and reminding families the importance of playing your part in keeping these safe. All families at Haven will receive 2x access fobs, unfortunately we do not hand out to grandparents etc as again we need to ensure only authorised people are entering Haven. From July 26 any families who request a new fob will please need to email this with a payment of $25 for a new fob.
Extra Days
Did you know Haven offer's extra days/ casual bookings? These days are charged at your usual gap fee and can be requested in advance or even the morning of. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need additional childcare we are here to help.
Alternatively, do you work a rotating roster and would like to discuss a fortnightly booking? Please send us an email and we will see how we can support :)
