Assistant Principal's Report

Well here we are - 4 weeks into Term 3 already. Throughout the beginning of term we have welcomed several new students to Albion North. Each one of them have made a fantastic start at our school, making new friends, learning expectations and already demonstrating a strong desire to learn and displaying our school values of espect, Responsibility and Teamwork. We look forward to watching you all grow academically and make valuable contributions to our school.

Our 2027 Foundation students are also 4 weeks into their transition program, attending weekly sessions on either Thursday or Friday mornings, currently from 9:15am - 10:15am. These sessions have been led by Mrs Veteha, Mrs Uzunovski and Mr Borges and have been a hive of excitement and enthusiasm. Already the students have shown growing confidence and have worked collaboratively in a range of activities, including phonics, counting and number work as well as learning new school routines and expectations. We look forward to welcoming more of our new students as the term progresses.

House Activities and Athletics

Last Friday all of our Foundation - 2 students participated in a range of sporting activities and games while our 3-6 students participated in a house athletics afternoon, where they took part in 6 different events. It was so pleasing to see all the students actively involved, scoring valuable points for their houses, and for the 3-6 students this day was also used by Mr Murdoch to select our team for the district athletics to be held in week 6. The weather was extremely kind to us and allowed all activities to proceed as planned. We also had several students from Victoria University Secondary College vist to support each of the activities, which was very much appreciated.

Congratulations to all the students for their involvement and best wishes to those selected for the district athletics. We look forward to sharing your achievements later this term.

Little Anglers

This week our Year 5 students have been given a Little Angler fishing kit, consisting of a fishing rod and reel, a tackle box as well as a physical guide to fishing with tips and tricks to take home. The kits are being distributed to Year 5 students at all primary schools across Victoria.

The initiative is funded by recreational fishing licence fees and is designed to encourage children to get outdoors and try fishing as a hobby or interest.

I look forward to hearing many fishing 'tales' about some of the gigantic fish caught by our students. 

I would also like to remind families to ensure that any students going fishing do so safely and are appropriately supervised by an adult around water at all times.
