Child Safe Standards at St Michael's – Child Safe Standard 7

At St Michael's, the safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. This edition of our Child Safe Standards series focuses on Child Safe Standard 7: Processes for Complaints and Concerns are Child-Focused.

Every child has the right to feel safe, be heard and know that the adults around them will listen and respond with care. We are committed to ensuring that any concerns raised by students, families or staff are taken seriously, managed respectfully and addressed promptly, always with the best interests of children at the centre.

You can support this important work by:

  • encouraging your child to speak with a trusted adult if something doesn't feel right
  • becoming familiar with our school's complaints and concerns processes
  • raising concerns early so we can work together to support your child
  • partnering with us in fostering a safe, respectful and inclusive school community.

By working together, we help create an environment where every child feels safe, valued and empowered to thrive.

For more information about Child Safe Standard 7 and the Child Safe Standards, please visit the Commission for Children and Young People website or contact the school if you have any questions.

Message from Ange,

Each month for the next ten months we will spotlight each of the 11 Child Safety Standards. MACS has developed resources  to support a deepened understanding of the standards for parents and teachers and how they help support the safety of each child.

If you have any feedback as to how we can further support upholding the Child Safe Standard or what we are already doing well, please email angela.flint@smnthmelbourne.catholic.edu.au
