To the wonderful families of St. Michael's,
It is an absolute honor and a joy to write to you as the newly appointed Principal of St. Michael’s Catholic Primary School. From my very first steps onto our school grounds, I have felt the deep sense of warmth, pride and belonging that defines this wonderful community. I am profoundly grateful for the trust placed in me to lead such a vibrant school and I am eager to partner with our dedicated staff, passionate parents and incredible students to build upon the rich foundation already in place.
Our identity is firmly anchored in the Mercy values - compassion, hospitality, respect and justice - which serve as our compass in nurturing the whole child. Following in the spirit of Catherine McAuley, we remain committed to fostering an environment where every child feels known, valued and empowered to shine. Inspired by our patron St Michael, whose courage and steadfast faith call us to protect and uplift one another, we will continue to cultivate a community built on integrity, strength and heart.
Looking ahead, I am thrilled to work closely with you all to ensure that St. Michael’s remains a place of dynamic learning, curiosity and spiritual growth. Excellent education thrives when school and home work hand-in-hand and I look forward to listening, learning and collaborating with each of you in the weeks, months and years to come. Together, we will continue to celebrate our shared traditions while enthusiastically stepping into the exciting chapter ahead.

Feast of St Mary of the Cross Mackillop
Today, our school community gathered in prayer and thanksgiving to celebrate the Feast of Saint Mary MacKillop. As Australia’s first saint, Mary MacKillop inspires us all through her deep faith, compassion and dedication to serving others. Her timeless advice - "Never see a need without doing something about it" - served as a powerful focus for our Mass today, reminding our students how they can live out their Catholic values each day. It was a wonderful joy to come together as a whole school to honor her incredible legacy and mark this special day on our liturgical calendar.
Swimming Program
Our school swimming program is taking place at the Kensington Recreation Centre, with our Prep to Year 2 students participating in Week 5 and our Year 3 to Year 6 students taking to the pool during Week 6. A sincere thank you to all the families who have already returned their permission forms. If you have not yet completed and submitted your child’s form, please do so ASAP so they do not miss out on participating. Parents are welcome to attend if their assistance is required for their child; however, please note that the pool has a limited spectator capacity, so we ask that you carefully consider whether your attendance is necessary before coming along.

Building Update
The new adventure playground installation will begin on Thursday. As indicated through the nForma app, families are invited to collect tan bark/mulch from this area prior to close of business on Wednesday - please contact Angela if you are interested.
Works continue on the power upgrade and the soft fall surface will be restored in the coming weeks. The end of a long building process is in sight. A special thank you to Angela for her expertise and diligence in coordinating this enormous undertaking!
