GIHS Under 15 Girls Basketball

Congratulations to our GIHS Under 15 Girls Basketball team, who travelled to Armidale on Wednesday to compete in the Schools Knockout Basketball Competition.

Although many of the girls were new to competitive basketball, they proved to be outstanding athletes and exceptional representatives of Glen Innes High School. 

Throughout the day, they quickly learned the rules, developed their skills with every game and gave their all on the court, demonstrating determination, resilience and outstanding teamwork.

The team celebrated a fantastic win over Guyra High School before taking on Armidale Secondary College in a thrilling contest. They fought right to the final siren, narrowly going down by just three points in a performance they should be incredibly proud of.

Thank you to every player for your commitment, positive attitude and outstanding sportsmanship. You represented Glen Innes High School with pride, supported one another every step of the way, and made our entire school community proud.

Open Boys State Touch Knockout

This week GIHS took on Endeavour Sports High in the final rounds of the Open Boys State Touch Knockout—a tremendous achievement and a testament to the team's outstanding season.

Glen Innes started strongly, opening the scoring and dominating the opening ten minutes with confidence and intensity. As the game progressed, Endeavour Sports High's reduced  bench appeared to take its toll, with fatigue seemingly set to influence what was shaping as a high-quality contest.

However, Endeavour rallied impressively, showcasing their exceptional fitness and composure. Their two dominant middle players used clever footwork and strong running lines to break down the GIHS defence at crucial moments.

Despite the momentum shifting, Glen Innes never stopped competing and finished the match with determination and pride. Endeavour Sports High ultimately claimed an 8–4 victory.

To reach this stage of the State Knockout is an outstanding accomplishment in itself. Every Glen player continued to demonstrate growth in their individual game throughout the campaign and should be immensely proud of what they have achieved. Even more impressive than their touch was the outstanding character, resilience and sportsmanship they displayed throughout the competition.
