A huge congratulations to some of our mountain bikers, who recently represented our school at the Sea Otter Australia School MTB Championships!
Hosted by the renowned Rocky Trail Academy at the legendary Mogo Trails, the event brought together incredible school-aged riding talent from all across the region. It was a fantastic day filled with high energy, tough competition, and great sportsmanship.
The turnout was impressive, with dozens of schools attending - ranging from fellow Christian schools to major outfits arriving with dedicated team buses, multi-bike trailers, and established school MTB clubs.
Despite the tough competition and challenging trails, our students gave it their all and represented our school community with pride.
A special shoutout to each of our participating riders:
Luke G Year 7 – placing 76th out of 109 in his category!
Taj & Ben shared some of their highlights:
"The trails in Mogo were very fun. My personal favourite trail there was called lockdown 2.0. It was a very technical trail. There was also other trails such as Cosmic Thunder, and Skyway." Taj
"Taj and I went to Mogo trails on Wednesday and practised. We practised on lockdown 2.0 two jumps were at the start and two berms (corner). Taj and I came off the second berm, then we went to Skyway. It was fun, but a little hard for me being my first time. One of the tracks uphill was not hard for Taj and I. I enjoyed riding the Mogo trails." Ben
Congratulations to all our riders on their grit, teamwork, and excellent results. We can’t wait to see where your riding takes you next!

A number of secondary students recently travelled to Calderwood Christian School to participate in a day of friendly debating.
The excited group of debaters gathered at Bomaderry Train Station to catch the 8:17am train to Albion Park Rail last Friday morning. Heading north to reconnect with our friends and rivals at Calderwood, students eagerly discussed their expectations for the day ahead.
After arriving safely—thanks to CCS graciously providing a bus for transport—the crew enjoyed a series of workshop-style activities to warm up and get their brains into gear. Students worked on formulating arguments from different perspectives and expressing them respectfully.
Between recess and lunch, teams were formed, debate topics were distributed, and roles were assigned. An hour passed quickly as teams prepared to debate their topics and rebut their opponents.
After a lunch break pleasantly occupied with card games, chess, and even a little volleyball practice, the debates began! NCS won the first debate ("Parents should reward their children for improved school results"), lost the next two, and tied the final debate ("Juries should decide the punishment as well as the verdict").
It was fantastic to witness the confident presentations, warm demeanor, and skill improvements displayed by all students. We returned home safely and look forward to collaborating with Calderwood again in 2027.

By Benjamin G and Grace P, Year 10
During Term 3, three Year 10 students were selected from 300 applicants to complete work experience at Shoalhaven Hospital.
The day started with arriving at the hospital for a 9am meeting where we met the other students from the different schools who were selected. We were then split up into groups so that we could explore the different parts of the hospital. This included visiting the Renal, Maternity and Paediatric wards, exploring the new Hospital, and seeing all the premature babies.
At the Renal ward met patients and learnt about their experience of chronic kidney disease. At the Maternity ward we learnt how nurses and doctors help women prepare to deliver their babies. The nurse also took the group to see a placenta. She explained how it can tell how a birth has happened and how healthy the baby is. When we entered the paediatric ward is was so wonderful seeing the few kids in there, and it all made us feel something we hadn't before. This was followed by seeing the premature babies.
"It made me consider how we are all God's little children" - Levi O
After we all geared up in the appropriate safety gear we walked to the new Hospital. Here we got to explore the Morgue, the helicopter pad, intensive care, theatre, and the psychiatric ward.

"The psychiatric ward was so well designed and made me feel like the hospital will provide a safe space for those patients." - Stella (different school)
Later in the day we explored the cancer clinic and learnt about how people deal with radiation therapy and deal with cancer in their lives. Benjamin Graham was chosen to have a mask fitted to his face to demonstrate how cancer could be removed from his neck or face. Benjamin then got to go into the machine that eliminated the cancer cells.
"I enjoyed the experience and have learned so much that has helped me shape my decisions in life. :)" -Grace Petts
"This has shown me so much that I didn't know about a hospital, and I can't wait to learn more." - Benjamin Graham

Last week, our Kindergarten students enjoyed a fun and informative Road Safety Incursion, learning how to stay safe on and around the road.
Students learnt all about road rules and road signs as they 'drove' around the school in their handmade cars or on their scooters. There was plenty of stopping, going and giving way, and it was wonderful to see them putting their new knowledge into practice.
Some students also enjoyed a special ride on the NCS Bus, which took them through the McDonald’s drive-thru and back to school. This was a highlight for many!
When they weren’t out on the road, the children were busy in the classroom making Traffic Light Biscuits, a delicious way to remember what red, orange and green mean.
A big thank you to our Kindergarten teachers for organising such a memorable day. Families can help reinforce these important lessons at home by talking about road safety whenever you are out and about, especially when crossing roads and car parks.
