What a fantastic term of English learning we have had at Gympie East!

Throughout Term 3, our English focus has been on persuasive texts, and our students have done an incredible job developing and sharing their ideas. Across the school, students have explored how authors and speakers use persuasive techniques to convince an audience before putting these skills into practice in their own writing.

A real highlight has been seeing students take their written persuasive texts and bring them to life through oral presentations. Students have experimented with persuasive and literary devices, carefully chosen vocabulary and effective delivery techniques to make their arguments even more convincing. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as both writers and speakers.

As we head into Term 4, we are turning the page and entering the world of narrative!

Our Prep and Year 1 students will explore a range of stories, developing their understanding of characters and events as they practise retelling stories in their own words.

From Year 2 through to Year 6, each class will embark on a novel study. Students will read and explore a selected novel, deconstructing how authors develop characters, settings, plots and language features. They will then use what they have discovered as inspiration for crafting narratives of their own.

We are looking forward to seeing our students swap their persuasive hats for their storytelling caps as they create characters, build exciting worlds and let their imaginations take the lead in Term 4!
