Principal's Report
Incredible STEM Donation
We have been overwhelmed by a generous donation from the Ashmor Family. Kate, Tammy and Miki (all either past or current students of Gardenvale PS) have donated $30,000 to our STEM program, in the memory of their dearly loved husband and father, Tom. Tragically Tom passed away in February this year. Tom had a very successful career and business in the Information Technology Industry. Yesterday Kate and Tammy spoke at our Year 2 to 6 Assembly and shared an insight into how thrilled they were to be able to provide a legacy for our STEM program in Tom’s name.
This incredible donation has enabled Mr Tan to purchase all new furniture and storage for the STEM room, along with new robotics, science equipment and a 3D Printer. We are so very grateful to the Ashmor family; all of our students will benefit from their generosity!
Cherries, cherries and more cherries!
Gardening Club, on both campuses, is enjoyed by many of our students. Last Friday. Junior Campus Gardening Club was extra rewarding and exciting. The students, along with Jen Robinson (one of our parents that volunteers many hours to run Gardening Club and maintain the vegetable garden) and Justine, one of our staff members, decided it was time for the cherries to be picked! A huge quantity of cherries was picked, eaten and enjoyed. Jen turned some of the cherries into delicious cherry jam!! What a treat!
Movie Day for the Senior Campus
This Friday afternoon our Senior Campus will be involved in the Movie afternoon fundraiser for the Starlight Foundation. Your donation will help bring happiness to seriously ill children, like Maeve Surkis, a daughter of one of our wonderful Gardenvale families. Students are asked to bring in their donation tomorrow, $2.00 Movie ticket or a $4.00 Movie ticket, which enables children to bring an oodie, toy and snack.
Junior Swimming
Our Year 3 to 5 Swimming Program concluded last Friday. Today it was our Junior Campus students’ turn to be involved in the swimming program for 9 sessions concluding on Friday 29th November.
Have an enjoyable week,
Janine
