National Science Week at KPS 

Last week, our students celebrated National Science Week by taking part in a hands-on environmental project that combined science, sustainability, and community spirit.

During Science Week, classes ventured out around the school grounds to plant their seed paper in a range of garden beds, giving students the opportunity to see first-hand how recycled materials can be repurposed to support plant growth and biodiversity.

This project also coincided with the creation of Hunter's Garden, located outside the Year 5/6 learning space. The garden has been established as a special tribute to Hunter providing our school community with a place for reflection and remembrance. Our Year 4 students took part in planting seeds around this area, helping to create a garden that will continue to grow and flourish.

Over the coming weeks, we look forward to watching the flowers emerge and seeing the impact of the students' hard work. 

Book Week 

What a week it's been! celebrating Book Week, with this year's theme,Symphony of Stories.

Throughout the week, students were invited to get involved in a range of Book Week activities during play 1 and play 2. It was wonderful to see so many children choosing to take part and having such a great time.

Matt, Sam and Jane also managed to spend some time in classrooms during eating time, reading a few of the shortlisted Book of the Year titles with the students. This has been a real highlight for the leadership team to get out, and a lovely chance to share some of this year's best stories together.

As it is every year, the highlight of Book Week is always the dress-up and parade. It was great to see so many students dressed up as their favourite characters.

A huge thank you must go to Miss Brooke and our SRC, who put an enormous amount of work into planning and running it all.

3A Teacher Update

As mentioned in a previous newsletter, Miss Olivia will be commencing family leave at the end of Term 3 and will be finishing with us at that time.

We are pleased to let you know that we have appointed Mrs Natalie Panesar to take over the 3A class for the remainder of the year. Mrs Panesar has previously been a member of the KPS community and has worked across a range of year levels during her time with us.

We are excited to welcome Mrs Panesar back to KPS and we know she will provide a smooth transition and continue the excellent learning and support that students in 3A have had already.

Sports Dress Up Day

Parent Opinion Survey 

A quick reminder that our annual Parent/Carer Opinion Survey is still open, and we'd love to hear from you.

The survey is your chance to share how you see our school. If you haven't completed it yet, there's still time. The survey is open online until Friday 18 September 2026, takes about 20 minutes, and can be done anytime on a computer, tablet or smartphone.

A compass post with access instructions was sent to all families on Monday 17 August.

Collecting Children During the Day

If you need to collect your child early, please notify the office in advance so we can have them ready for you. Schools are busy places, and it can take time to locate students, particularly if they are in specialist classes or other learning areas.

To minimise disruptions, please avoid collections during:

•    Play 1: 10:58 - 11:28

•    Play 2: 1:14 - 1:44

During these times, children may not hear PA announcements, and buildings are locked for safety, making it difficult to collect belongings.
