Dear SJV Families,

I hope you all had a relaxing and joyful Easter break with your family and friends, and that you're feeling refreshed and ready for another exciting term ahead. This term is a long one—spanning 10 weeks—and it's packed with activities and opportunities for learning.

It was such a pleasure to see so many happy faces as students returned to school last Monday morning. The smiles weren’t just on the children’s faces—many parents looked just as cheerful!

As always, school life is full and vibrant. Earlier last week, you should have received your child’s Term Letter, outlining the key learning areas and activities planned for the classroom. Please take a moment to read through it. If you have any questions or would like further clarification, don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher.

I’m really looking forward to all that this term holds—especially the wonderful learning that will happen both in classrooms and during specialist sessions. There’s so much to be excited about!

Mother's Day Stall / Breakfast

The Mother’s Day Breakfast will take place on Friday the 8th of May 7.30am -8.45am/9am. We will also have a Mother’s Day assembly which will begin at 3pm in the MPR. We would love to see as many mums there.

If any dads are able to assist on the day, please let the office know or contact Matt Spencer from the PFA.

The Mother’s day stall will take place on Thursday the 7th of May.

Dads make sure that you give your child $5 to buy a gift for mum at the Mother’s Day Stall!!

Sacramental Program

Family Workshop - First Eucharist

Monday 11th May at St John Vianney’s School - MPR @ 7.00pm - 8.00pm

As a part of the process for the First Eucharist program, there will be a family workshop presented by Fr. Elio Capra on Monday, 11th May from 7pm-8pm.

We are inviting Parents along with the First Eucharist candidates to attend this workshop which will be held in the MPR and the Year 3/4 classrooms. Parents will remain in the MPR where they will have a presentation by Fr Elio Capra. The candidates will be taken to the Year 3/4  classrooms by members of staff and will participate in activities based on the Sacrament of First Eucharist. The candidates will then be brought back to the hall at the conclusion of the evening (7.50pm).

This is an important step in the First Eucharist program so I encourage you to attend. Further details will be sent to you closer to the time.

Building Update

Construction on our new school building is progressing well, with several exciting milestones recently achieved. Window installation is now underway, bringing more natural light into the spaces and giving a clearer sense of how the finished building will look and feel.

Inside, internal walls are being constructed and plaster installation has begun, helping to define offices and shared areas. At the same time, roofing works are nearing completion with solar panels currently being installed, marking a significant step toward making the building weather-tight.

We look forward to sharing more updates as the project continues to take shape.

MACS Care

As mentioned in our previous newsletters, each month we will be placing information in about the Victorian Child Safe Standards, which are a set of 11 minimum requirements that all organisations working with children must meet.

For the month of April, our focus is Child Safe Standard 3: Children and young people are empowered about their rights, participate in decisions affecting them and are taken seriously.

Reminders

The next Newsletter will be shared on Thursday 14th of May

  • The next school assembly will be on Friday 8th of May @ 3pm in the MPR

  • Dogs - Please note that for the safety and wellbeing of all members of our community, no dogs are permitted inside the school grounds and they must not be left unattended tied up at the gates. Adult supervision and holding of the leash is so important around vulnerable places such as schools.  We love dogs but we do have to take care of all members of our community.

  • Bikes and Scooters - Please walk bikes and scooters when moving through the school grounds.

  • Punctuality - It is expected that all students are to be at school by no later than 8.45am and not any time up to 9am. From 8.45am to 9am is crucial for students to get themselves organised, start the day with Meditation, prayer, take the roll and ready to commence their day promptly. Formal lessons begin at 9am. Any child who arrives at or after 9am is to be signed in at the office by a parent/guardian. I ask all parents to make sure that you adhere to these times.

Regards
