Curriculum Corner

We warmly welcome all members of our community to the 2026 school year! We have already began the year with excitement, it has been so lovely to see how much our students have grown over the holidays! This includes seeing all the new faces in our Prep class, wonderful students who are just starting their academic journey!

I thought I might take the opportunity to introduce myself to our new families!

My name is Mr Tim O'Mahoney and I've had the pleasure of working at St Anthony's for a number of years now. This year, I am our Curriculum Leader meaning that I work in supporting our students, teachers and school in some of our key curriculum areas including English, Mathematics and Integrated Learning. I love teaching as well and I am working with Year 3/4 this year!

Testing

As we have done for a few years now our testing days at the start of the year are a fantastic way for our staff to touch base with students. We know we all have strengths and challenges, and our students are exactly the same. Through our Mathematics and Literacy testing, we can pinpoint how we can best work with our classes moving forward. We have a really strong academic program at St Anthony's, with each day following a routine of Literacy early in the day and Mathematics taking place in our middle block.

Throughout the year, we will share what our students are up to with their work across the curriculum. We do this though newsletter post such as this. We also share any information that parents and carers may find interesting, such as educational research and trends. I'll also use this section of the newsletter to discuss our reporting methods, as well as how we collect our data when keeping track of our students.

Looking forward to sharing these things, but what I actually think is more important, sharing the wonderful work that our students complete! I will look to publishing writing pieces, posters and other work pieces that our students complete, with great pride.

Hoping the year has started well for everyone!
