Book Week 2026

Dear Parents,

Book Week 2026 is fast approaching and we can not wait to celebrate a “Symphony of Stories" with our children. Please save the date for our Book Week Parade and celebration day on Thursday 27 August!

The parade will commence at 9:15 and will run for approximately one hour. We look forward to seeing our children and staff all dressed up in various characters!

The day will continue full of book week story activities, competitions and delicious morning and lunch treats prepared by our amazing Parents and Friends!

In the lead up to this year’s Book Week, our Prep, Year 1 and 2 students will enjoy a performance by the Meerkat Productions group, on one of this year’s shortlisted books- Dear Broccoli by Jo Dabrowsk.

The performance will take place at school next week on Tuesday 11 August at 9:30 a.m.

Dear Broccoli is a lively and laugh-out-loud stage adaptation of Jo Dabrowski’s much-loved picture book, brought to life through fast-paced storytelling, sharp humour, and playful physical theatre. Told through a series of letters between a determined broccoli-hating boy, Frank, and one unexpectedly eloquent piece of broccoli, the story escalates into a joyful battle of wit, imagination, and persuasion. As Frank tries every possible excuse to avoid eating his greens, Broccoli responds with charm, logic, and a growing determination to be heard. 

On stage, this witty exchange transforms into an energetic, highly theatrical experience that celebrates language, rhythm, and audience engagement. The adaptation explores themes of perspective, resilience, and open-mindedness, inviting young audiences to laugh, question, and see everyday “battles” in a new light. With its clever structure, dynamic character work, and heart warming twist, Dear Broccoli is a fresh, funny, and highly accessible theatre experience designed especially for primary school audiences.
