Mr Irwin's Message

Hello families and welcome to this week’s newsletter,

We’re now into week ten of the final term of the year which is normally when school would finish for the year, however there are still ten important days of school that remain for 2023. It’s been impressive to see how calm the school has remained given its the time of year where we start to feel tired, possibly anxious and need a holiday recharge!

Last week I had the privilege of attending camp with our Middle School Students. It was great to see how well they supported and encouraged one another on the various camp activities and the camp staff were very complimentary of their behaviour and attitude. The weather was beautiful until Wednesday morning, but I get the feeling everyone was ready to head home by then anyway. A huge thanks to our school staff who attended camp to support this opportunity for the Middle School Students.

Yesterday, Senior School Students attended Kryal Castle for their end of term fun day. Again, the behaviour and engagement from students on this excursion was terrific. It is important we hold high expectations of how we represent our school in the community and I am proud of how students did this over the past two weeks.

Orientation Day

Next Tuesday students will spend the morning in their 2024 class groups. Extensive work goes into creating a structure for learning, staffing profile and subsequent class groups for a school year. For 2024 we have settled at the following class structure.

There will be two straight Foundation Classes and Mrs Kelley, Mrs Wells and Miss Whyte will be the Foundation Teachers.

There will be three composite Junior Classes of year one and two students. Mr Maskell, Miss Musselwhite and Mrs Fletcher will be the Junior School Teachers.

There will be three composite middle school classes of year three and four students. Mrs Knight, Mr King, Mr Smith and Miss Jefferies will be the Middle School teachers. We welcome Teagan Jefferies to our staff in 2024 from Clifton Springs Primary School.

Finally, there will be three composite senior school classes, comprising a class of year four and five students and two year five six students. Miss Walker, Miss Kearney and Miss Armstrong will be our Senior School teachers.

Our specialist program will comprise Visual Art, Kitchen Garden, Physical Education and Science. Mrs Biscan, Mr King, Mr Le and Mrs Moloney are the teachers responsible for these specialist subjects.

Indigenous Studies, Performing Arts and Digital and Design Tech will comprise our discovery subjects in each sub school, and each class will also have a weekly Personal Learning and House Sports session too. All in all this means each week is a busy one at Teesdale Primary school!

Please be aware in sharing our class and teacher structure that we don’t take requests for specific classroom teachers. The window for considerations for 2024 was provided earlier in the term and the deadline now closed.

Final Day Fun

The Teesdale Twilight Market and Carols is a fun way to end the year and once again culminates with our final day of school for the year, which we conclude with an assembly from 1:00pm - 1:30pm. At this assembly we’ll farewell our year 6 students and announce our 2024 Student Leaders.

Students are practicing songs for the Carols and our timeslot for performing has been confirmed as 4:10pm. Our Junior students are performing the Hi-5 classic Santa Claus is coming, the Seniors ‘Santa Claus has got a new truck’ and everyone will be pumping out Teesdale Wonderland together!

If you haven’t been to the Twilight market before it is a fantastic way to bring in the holiday season. There’s plenty of yummy food, great live performances and great atmosphere!

Students Achieving in Golf

Congratulations to Mason and Murphy who were part of the winning team in the Geelong Junior Pennants Ford Cup a couple of weeks ago.

Murphy has also made it through to the State finals to represent Teesdale Primary School on Wednesday13th December at the Kooringal Golf Club. Well done to you boys and all the best next week Murphy.
