Campus Principal - Collingwood Alternative School


Personal Development Skills class
Students gently explored the gardens of Melbourne and discovered the physical, mental and emotional benefits of spending time in nature. They learned wellbeing strategies such as mindfulness, tuning in with their senses, and carefully observing the natural world. The program helped them understand the impacts of technology and stress on their wellbeing and practise tools for self-regulation through time outdoors.
Students:
● Discovered the health benefits of plants and the outdoors
● Participated in nature connection activities such as bird watching, nature journaling, and creating land art
● Experienced the benefits of a mindfulness walk ● Made scented herb bags to take home
Key focuses:

● The benefits of being outdoors in nature ● Strategies for mental and physical wellbeing
