Prayer
Second Week of Lent Year C
Luke 9: 28-36
In last Sunday’s Gospel, which marks the second week of Lent, we hear how Jesus takes His friends Peter, James, and John up a mountain to pray. While they are there, something amazing happens—Jesus’ face shines like the sun, and His clothes become dazzling white! Moses and Elijah, two great leaders from the Old Testament, appear and talk with Jesus. Peter is so amazed that he wants to stay there forever, but then a cloud covers them, and they hear God’s voice saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to Him.”
This moment, called the Transfiguration, shows us that Jesus is truly the Son of God. It reminds us to listen to Jesus and trust in Him, especially during Lent. Just as Peter, James, and John saw Jesus in His glory, we can open our hearts to see Jesus in our lives—through prayer, kindness, and love.
Reflection
How can we listen to Jesus this week? Maybe by helping a friend, forgiving someone, or spending time in prayer. Let’s ask God to help us see His light in the world around us!
Loving God,
As we journey through Lent,
help us to open our hearts to You.
Just as Jesus showed His glory to His friends on the mountain,
help us to see Your light in the world around us.
Teach us to listen to Jesus and follow His ways.
Help us to be kind, to share, and to care for those in need.
May this season of Lent bring us closer to You
as we pray, fast, and give to others with love.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Spanning across the 6 weeks of Lent each year, Project Compassion brings thousands of Australian schools, parishes, and supporters together to raise funds for people living in some of the most vulnerable communities across the world.
St. Margaret’s is pleased to announce that we will be participating in Project Compassion again this year. Last year, our school community contributed $465.90 to Caritas Australia through Project Compassion Box.
Thank you to those families that have already returned their Project Compassion Box with your generous donation. Boxes need not be returned until the end of Week 2, Term 2.
Thank you for your continued support.
