A Week of Resilience, Readiness, and Harmony
Welcome to another fantastic week at Alphington Primary School. It’s always a joy to walk through the classrooms and see our students continuing to build such a strong culture of learning across all year levels. We have an important few days ahead as we wrap up our assessments, practice our safety procedures, and celebrate the diversity of our wonderful community.
NAPLAN Update
Following a very successful start to NAPLAN last week, we have now completed the main testing schedule, with just a few catch-up sessions remaining for students who were absent. We are incredibly proud of our Year 3 and Year 5 students. Just as we saw last week, they approached the remaining tests with minimal concerns, getting in and doing their best. Our conversations around approaching NAPLAN with positive mental preparation have certainly paid off!
As a reminder, individual student reports are provided to parents later in the year.
Swimming Success
A huge congratulations to Dakota, Isabella and Maddy, who all performed at a very high-level last week at the Banyule Division Swimming Championships 2026. We are incredibly proud of your achievements.
Dakota and Isabella's earned a well-deserved place to race at the Northern Metropolitan Region Swimming Championships tomorrow. All the best in the pool, Dakota and Isabella!
Whole School Evacuation Drill – This Thursday, 10:50am
We are advising families of our first emergency evacuation drill for the year so that you can prepare your children if this may be known to cause anxiety. On Thursday at 10:50am, we will have a whole school onsite evacuation from all classroom buildings to the outdoor basketball court.
The purpose of this drill is to support students in understanding the processes for evacuation from their new 2026 classrooms. Teachers will advise their classes of the procedures and when the evacuation will occur. Please speak to your child’s teacher if you require further information or support.
THIS FRIDAY - Celebrating Harmony Day (AND Ride to School Day!)
We are looking forward to wrapping up the week by celebrating Ride to School Day and Harmony Day - this Friday! Our specialist teachers have been busily preparing themed lessons, and classroom teachers will also be focusing on Harmony Week during their Circle Time and Wellbeing sessions. Shane and our Year 6 leaders will also be highlighting the importance of Harmony Day at our upcoming assembly.
To help us celebrate inclusiveness, respect, and belonging, we encourage all students to wear orange this Friday!
School Tours for Prospective Families
We are always incredibly proud to show off our wonderful school community, and on Friday morning, we will be running the first of our school tours for prospective Prep families for 2027.
Tours provide a great opportunity to explore the classrooms, get a real feel for our school's culture of learning, and ask any questions they might have.Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their week!
