Principal Update

St Francis, Nathalia is a child safe school.

We promote the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children.

An update from our Principal

Prayer - The Franciscan Benediction:

May God bless us with a restless discomfort;

at easy answers, half-truths, and superficial relationships,

so that we may live deep within our hearts.

May God bless us with anger;

at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people,

so that we may work for justice, freedom and peace.

May God bless us with tears;

to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation and war,

so that we may reach out our hands to comfort them and turn their pain

into joy.

And may God bless us with enough foolishness;

to believe that we can make a difference in this world,

so that we can do what others claim cannot be done.

Amen.

Dear Parents, Care Givers, Staff, Students and Friends of St Francis Primary School,

Welcome to the Open Day edition of our fortnightly newsletter. On Sunday morning (May 18) the school is open between 10 and 11am for everybody in the community to call in and check out our fantastic school. This includes current families, prospective families, past students and families or those in the community who are interested in what we do. Then on Monday (May 19) St Francis Primary School will open its doors and welcome prospective families, incoming foundation families and community members who would like to see our school in full operation. The morning will begin at 9.30am with a presentation, school tours and an opportunity to discuss any questions and queries with the leadership team. We particularly welcome those families from our kindergartens and pre-schools who are making their first educational decision relating to their child’s foundation year.

We trust that your experience at St Francis Primary School will be informative, enjoyable and rewarding. We look forward to our Open Days program and providing the appropriate support to our incoming families and students in 2026. I have no doubt you will gain an insight and a genuine sense of who we are at St Francis inclusive of our faith, values, culture and spirit.

For any prospective families who were unable to join us on Open Day please give the office a call and we can certainly arrange a conversation and a tour of the school at a time that is convenient.

Thank you to everybody who attended our Mothers Day breakfast last Friday morning. A bigger thank you to our Mum’s and Grandmothers for all that you do for the young people in your care and in your families. The morning was full of energy and excitement and we are always thrilled when we can open the gates to our community for you to come in and join us. I look forward to celebrating and acknowledging our Dad’s and Grandfathers later in the year at our Father’s Day breakfast event.

Finally, congratulations to all the student award winners who were acknowledged at assembly on Monday afternoon. Thank you to everybody who attended as we are very keen to award and celebrate the many outstanding contributions and learning successes of our students. In particular, well done to our reading award winners. Reading and literacy are the foundational skills that contribute to success at school. Thanks to our Mum’s and Dads who are putting in the time to listen to their child’s reading. Stick with it – it does make a difference.

With Peace and Goodwill,

Matt Carver
