Principal's Report

Welcome Back to Term Two
We would like to welcome all of our students and families back for Term 2. We hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing Easter break and had the opportunity to spend some quality time with family and friends.
We are looking forward to another exciting term of learning and growth at Macedon Primary School. Term 2 is always a busy and rewarding time, and we are excited to see all that our students will achieve in the weeks ahead.
Congratulations to Anthony Bortolot
We are delighted to share that Anthony is currently studying his Masters of Inclusion and Diversity and has been nominated for the Victor Talbot Prize at La Trobe University.
The Victor Talbot Prize supports the launch and growth of a pioneering Emotional Intelligence Masterclass program for students in Education, Nursing and Social Work. The prize is awarded to two School of Education students in recognition of their exceptional emotional intelligence and commitment to fostering empathetic and supportive environments in their field.
We would like to warmly congratulate Anthony on this wonderful achievement. We are incredibly proud of his efforts and the dedication he continues to show in his professional learning and development.
Winter Solstice
Winter Solstice 2026
Winter Solstice is always a wonderful event on our school calendar and a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together. We are excited to again celebrate this special evening on Friday 19 June.
To help make the event a success, we are looking for volunteers to assist with setup and helping the event run smoothly on the night. If you are able to lend a hand, please contact David Oxworth (Mr O), who is coordinating the event. David.oxworth@education.vic.gov.au
Your support is always greatly appreciated.
Attendance Update
Regular attendance is very important and makes a significant difference to student learning. In Victoria, all children aged 6 to 17 are required to attend school every day unless an exemption has been granted, and parents and carers must provide an explanation for any absence.
At Macedon Primary School, we are aiming for our average number of absences per child to be under 16.5 days for the year. If a child is averaging more than 5 days absent per term, Sue, our Mental Health and Wellbeing teacher, will contact families to discuss how we can work together to support improved attendance. We also ask that any family holidays during school time are discussed with the school and approved in advance.
| Number of Absences | Average Number of Absences |
| 613 | 2.76 |
| Number of Late arrivals | Average number of Late arrivals |
| 339 | 1.53 |
Adopt a Garden Bed
Thank you to the parents who have already volunteered to adopt a garden bed.
We especially appreciate the work done on the pots at the front entrance, which have been beautifully transformed and look amazing.
There is still time to get involved. If your family is interested in adopting a garden bed, please contact Salina at the office.
Warm regards,
Andrew Bloomfield
Principal
