Specialist Subjects

DigiTech - Cam Taylor
Students will explore algorithms and develop sequencing skills by ordering steps correctly and using arrows to show logical flow. They will learn to follow algorithms to help solve problems. Students will develop these skills further through the use of Beebots.
Art - Lauren Nankervis
In Term Two, the Grade One students will be creating artworks from their observations. They will paint and draw using techniques such as dabbing and brush strokes. The artwork will begin to look at the background and foreground.
Science - Jess Widdicombe
Students are exploring how pushes and pulls act as forces that can change an object’s movement or shape. They will investigate the strength and direction of these forces through hands-on activities before designing and creating their own miniature playgrounds.
Music – Stacie Mason
Through exploring new songs and games, students will learn to recognise and use semiquaver rhythms (tika-tika) and the note ‘lah’ of the solfa scale. They will use these new concepts when singing, playing instruments, and body percussion. Songs will include Icka Backa, Dyna, Rain, Rain and more.
PE - Luke Freeman & Class Teachers
Students will participate in cooperative games using the fundamental movement skills of overarm throw, catch and ball bounce with a focus on following rules, playing safely and fairly. The term will conclude with gymnastics and dance.
