Strengthening Our Commitment to a Safe and Supportive School Environment

Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members,

At St Johns Park Public School, the safety and wellbeing of our students is our highest priority. We are committed to fostering a learning environment where every student feels valued, respected and safe. To support this commitment, I am pleased to share information about the NSW Public Schools Anti-Bullying Framework, a vital initiative guiding our approach to preventing and addressing bullying.

The NSW Public Schools Anti-Bullying Framework provides clear, evidence-based strategies to help schools create a positive culture and effectively respond to bullying behaviour. It encourages a whole-school approach, involving staff, students, families, and the broader community, to build safe and inclusive schools.

Key aspects of the framework include:

  • Prevention: Implementing proactive measures through curriculum, social-emotional learning, and promoting respectful and inclusive practices.

  • Early Intervention: Identifying and responding to bullying behaviour promptly to support both victims and those engaging in bullying.

  • Support: Providing tailored support to affected students, fostering resilience and wellbeing.

  • Collaboration: Engaging families and community members in prevention and response efforts, ensuring a consistent message across environments.

We are working on embedding these principles into our policies and day-to-day activities. Our staff will engage in professional learning to recognise and address bullying, and we encourage open communication between students, families, and staff. In the coming weeks, we will be consulting with students and families to gain their understanding of bullying and ways to engage with the framework. Together, we can nurture a school culture that celebrates diversity, encourages kindness, and ensures every child can learn without fear.

I encourage all members of our school community to remain vigilant and proactive in promoting respect and inclusion. Should you have any concerns or wish to discuss the framework further, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Thank you for your ongoing support in creating a safe and welcoming environment for all students.

Warm regards,

Mrs Dianne Donatiello
