Flourish with Fluency

We almost have a full term of FwF under our belts!

Our volunteer-led initiative at RNPS, Flourish with Fluency (FwF), has been running beautifully throughout Term 2. We are beginning to conduct some specific end-of-term assessments to help gauge the effectiveness of the program and identify opportunities for further improvement.

Our FwF volunteers have been instrumental in helping us provide an increased level of targeted support for selected students. Several teachers have reported that the additional individualised opportunities to practise literacy and/or numeracy fluency are having positive flow-on effects in the classroom.

We have made a few refinements along the way, including improved resource folders and additional program components for some students. Our volunteers have also started to build strong relationships with students and develop a clear understanding of the areas that may benefit from further focus during sessions. It has been wonderful to see our students connecting with and learning from members of the wider RNPS community.

To provide some insight into what it is like to be involved in FwF, we asked our volunteers to share their experiences. Here is what some of our team had to say:

“Supporting Flourish with Fluency has been a great experience. It's been rewarding to support the kids in their learning and being involved helps me to feel connected and integrated with the school community. I would highly recommend getting involved with FwF in Term 3!” - Kathleen

“I have really enjoyed volunteering with the FwF program. It has been rewarding to make a small difference giving students dedicated one-on-one time to support their learning. All of the children have been genuinely eager to learn and are an absolute pleasure!” - Marissa

“FWF is such a rewarding program to be part of. You have the opportunity to work with students who are so eager to improve! You are able to see children improve in their ability and confidence every week, and experience success at their level. It is so enjoyable to have the opportunity to support and encourage them along the way. Everything has been made so easy and manageable by Kate, Chantelle and the team, and they are extremely generous with their support should you ever need it. A great volunteer opportunity to be a part of!” - Jess
