Round the classes

Indonesian: Susan

We have started our new topic Di Laut (In the Sea) in Indonesian. The classes have contributed to a whole-school display of 'under the sea' creatures which looks bagus! We are revisiting word order placement with adjectives coming after the noun in stories and language activities as well as revising numbers and colours. Sallie's class has completed a get-to-know-you activity and started researching sea turtles in preparation for a project later this term. We have welcomed our teddies Kura-kura and Gurita to the junior primary lessons.

Science: Paige

What a busy and enjoyable start to the year it has been. It has been lovely working with and getting to know students during our Science lessons. This year, we are fortunate to  be using the Art Space during our Science lessons. This is exciting for both the students and myself, as this allows us the space and resources to undertake all sorts of hands-on learning. This term our focus is Biological Science; we will be exploring animals and plants and all things required for their survival.

PE: Troy

It has been a positive start to the year in Physical Education. Although the warmer weather has presented some challenges, resulting in us spending more time in the gym, students have adapted well.

All classes began the term with a focus on building strong relationships within their groups. Through small group activities and team games, students have been developing their communication skills and learning how to work effectively as a team to achieve shared goals.

In the Early Years, students have started to develop their fundamental movement skills, including running and jumping. These skills are being practised through engaging games and circuit activities, providing students with the opportunity to improve their coordination and confidence.

Primary Years classes have been introduced to Futsal (indoor soccer). Each lesson has a specific skill focus, which is practised through targeted activities and mini games. Following these skill-building exercises, students participate in short, modified games before rotating to ensure everyone stays involved. The new equipment has also been well received, contributing to the students’ enthusiasm and enjoyment in lessons.

Overall, it has been a fantastic start, and we look forward to a great year of learning, teamwork, and activity in PE.
