Learner Agency

As part of our 2026 Site Learning Plan we have a strong focus on building Learner Agency in students from Reception to Year 6. 

Learner Agency is about shifting the ownership of learning from teachers to students, enabling students to have the understanding, ability, and opportunity to be part of the learning design and to take action to intervene in the learning process, to affect outcomes and become powerful lifelong learners. Students demonstrate agency when they

• voice opinions
• ask questions and express wonderings
• communicate understandings
• construct new meanings
• participate in and contribute to the learning community.

At Uraidla Primary School, we are developing student agency through Inquiry Projects. Across the year, all classes will be teaching through Inquiry to develop the above-mentioned skills. 

In the coming weeks, our 2026 version of the Site Learning Plan will be sent home to look through and talk about with your children.
