Our Lenten Journey - From Ashes to Mission

Welcome to Our Lenten Journey – From Ashes to Mission

We warmly invite all families to join us for two very special celebrations in our school and parish community:

  • Wednesday 18 February, 10amAsh Wednesday Mass, marking the beginning of the Season of Lent.
  • Sunday 22 February, 9:45amSt John’s Parish Founders Mass, celebrating the rich history of our parish, including a special presentation honouring the founders of our church.

Lent is a sacred season in the Church where we are invited to pause, reflect and begin again. It is a time of transformation, a journey from ashes to action. The ashes we receive on Ash Wednesday remind us of our human vulnerability, but also of hope. While ashes symbolise loss and change, they are not the end of the story. From the ashes, new life can grow.

Throughout Lent, we are called to become more Christ-like in our thoughts, words, and actions. Through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving (head, heart and hands), we are invited to turn away from what gets in the way of God’s mission and turn back to love, justice, mercy and service.

Lent prepares our hearts for Easter, reminding us that life, not death, has the final word. It is a time of renewal, hope, and deep spiritual growth, where we are encouraged to live out our baptismal call and to act for justice, especially for those who are poor or marginalised.

As a school community, we look forward to walking this journey together, supporting our students to understand that they each have an important role in building God’s kingdom through love, compassion, and service.

We hope you can join us for these two beautiful celebrations as we begin this meaningful season together.

Caritas Project Compassion- The Big Water Walk

This LENT we are coming together to support vulnerable communities so that we can help transform lives with everlasting change. I have registered our school so that we can contribute and raise money for 'The Big Water Walk'. Every dollar raised counts and our students have the opportunity to feel like they are making a difference.

Our Students will walk in solidarity during our Harmony Day activities on Tuesday, March 17. Buckets of water will be provided so that our students can experience what it would be like to carry buckets of water a long distance. It can take over 30 minutes for people to collect water in their villages and often it is during extreme weather and limited.  I wonder if you imagine what it would be like to live without water that comes so easily from a tap. There is no running water in many of these countries to help them with cleaning, cooking and brushing teeth and showering.
