FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART MASS
Our final school Mass for the term will be celebrated tomorrow, Wednesday 24th June, and will be dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. During the offertory procession, some of the donated non-perishable grocery items will be presented as a symbol of our community's generosity and care for others.
We sincerely thank our families for their support of this important initiative. All donated goods, along with the funds raised, will be passed on to the St Vincent de Paul Society, which will distribute them to local families experiencing hardship.
STUDENT ATTENDANCE & PUNCTUALITY
Recently MACS introduced their Vision for Engagement, which describes how students learn, thrive and flourish. During Term 3 Arriving at School by the Bell will be a big focus for our students, as research indicates that this is a critical aspect of academic achievement and social connection. Coming to school on time five days a week, allows students to build on their skills, engage with learning and develop positive habits that extend beyond the classroom.
YEAR 5 ENROLMENT TIMELINE FOR YEAR 7
Families with a child in Year 5 this year are reminded that enrolments for Catholic secondary schools for Year 7 in 2028, close in August this year. If you are hoping to secure a place at Thomas Carr, MacKillop College or another Catholic Secondary school for your child for Year 7, we strongly recommend you ensure you have submitted your enrolment papers prior to closing in August.
SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION
This year Bishop Martin has requested that schools within the Parish of St Andrew’s join together to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. Due to these larger group numbers, Confirmation will be celebrated at MacKillop College in Werribee. St John's students will be joining with students from two other Parish Primary Schools to receive the Sacrament at 1:00pm on Saturday August 8th at the Stadium at MacKillop College Werribee. Students are required to attend a Family Meeting prior to the Sacrament with one parent. This meeting will take place on Tuesday July 21st at 6:00pm in the St John’s School Hall. Please ensure the dates below have been recorded on your family’s calendar:
Tuesday July 21st Family Meeting 6:00pm @ St John’s School Hall
Saturday August 8th Sacrament of Confirmation 1:00pm @ MacKillop College Werribee
SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL
The School Advisory Council provides a forum for discussion and discernment, where the parent/guardian voice and perspective are available to inform and support the decisions made by the principal and parish priest for the good of school and parish where the wellbeing and outcomes for students is paramount.
The council meets formally either in person or remotely six times over the school year. Meetings are held on a Tuesday evening between 6:30pm - 8:00pm. Below are the meeting dates for the remainder of the year:
