Ms Izabela Smaza has recently decided to pursue new opportunities and will finish at St John’s at the end of the term. As she concludes her time with us as a Year 4 teacher, we would like to acknowledge the contributions she has made to St John’s during her time here. We wish Izabela every success as she explores this new chapter in her life.
Parents from Year 4 Smaza and Year 6 Dillon will receive a letter later this week outlining class teachers for Semester 2, 2026.
Over the past two weeks, our Prep students enjoyed a visit from the Fire Ed team, who taught them valuable lessons about fire safety and the important roles of community helpers. During these sessions, they learned about good fires and bad fires, smoke alarms, what to do in the event of a fire, safe family meeting places, and when to call 000 in an emergency. The highlight of the visit was exploring a real fire truck and having the opportunity to hold the fire hose!
Our Year 5 Students visited IMAX and the Melbourne Museum last Wednesday 17th June. While at IMAX the students watched an Extreme Weather documentary, which linked closely to their unit on the Earth and its surface. Following the film, the Year 5s explored the ‘Our Wondrous Planet Exhibition’ and the ‘Dynamic Earth Exhibition' at the Museum. Below are some photos from the day:

On Wednesday of Week 8 the Year 6s held their Bizarre Bazaar. Each class visited the stalls and had an opportunity to purchase some unique homemade products, ranging from candles and jewellery to crochet plushies, collectable cards and lots of yummy edible treats. Congratulations to the Year 6s for their hard work in designing and preparing all the products they sold. The day raised $2784 which will be donated to ‘Joseph’s Corner’. Joseph’s Corner is a small local not for profit Catholic organisation based in Melbourne. They provide free or low-cost counseling and support services to families who are affected by addiction.
Below are images of some of the very creative stalls from the day:

Last week Ms Dillon’s Year 6’s went for an extended bike ride to a local Cafe and Year 6 Trigg will be doing the same excursion later this week. Thanks to Ms Jill for mapping out the route and ensuring the course was suitable for the students to ride.

It counts the number of students who receive adjustments or “help” at school because of a disability. The NCCD helps the government and schools plan for the needs of students with a disability. For further information click on the link NCCD Information Sheet.
