Todd Woodbridge Cup at Inverell
Expressions of interest have officially been sent out to our Year 5 and Year 6 students regarding the upcoming Todd Woodbridge Cup zone event. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Inverell on Friday 14th August.
To enter the competition, our school needs to form a complete team consisting of exactly four boys and four girls. If a team is successfully formed, Mr Hyatt will supervise the students during travel, while Mrs Wauch will serve as the team coach and manager for the day.
The Todd Woodbridge Cup is a primary school tennis competition school initiative run by Tennis NSW. Rather than focusing on high-stakes competition, the event is specifically designed to encourage participation, teamwork, and sportsmanship among primary school students of all skill levels.
To ensure the event is accessible and fair for all participants, matches are played on modified smaller courts using low-compression orange tennis balls and smaller racquets. The format involves timed doubles and mixed doubles matches, ensuring all team members gain equal playing experience throughout the day.
Interested students are asked to return their expression by next Thursday.
St Patrick's Primary Handball Competition
The St Patrick’s Primary Handball Competition has officially entered its final stage under the COLA. Following the completion of the round-robin matches and the initial playoff brackets, only the grand final matches remain to decide this term's rankings.
The tournament has been a significant playground event, bringing together 70 competitors across 10 teams from Kindergarten to Year 6. Throughout the competition, recess and lunchtime sessions have consistently drawn large crowds of student spectators to line the courts and watch the matches unfold.
The semifinal rounds produced high-quality play and excellent sportsmanship from all participants. These results have successfully determined the placing order for the majority of our teams.
The final matches will take place next week to determine the ultimate tournament champions.

St Patrick's Primary Sports Handbook
St Patrick's now has an official sports handbook, which has recently been updated following our school swimming carnival. Additionally, the handbook has now been revised to include the new records set by Josie, Lucy, Phoebe and Thibaud at our recent athletics carnival. This book is designed to give all members of our school community a clearer understanding of when our various sporting carnivals are conducted. It also outlines the processes and qualifying times required for students wishing to represent our school at Diocesan sporting events, alongside an explanation of the representative sporting pathways your child can undertake in their respective sports.
