Principal's Message

From the Desk of Kathy Nott - Term 2, Week 11

Good afternoon, Parents/Carers,

We are in the last week of Term 2.  I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and restful term break.  I look forward to seeing everyone back for Term 3.

School Reports

School Reports forthe first semester will be distributed this Friday, 3rd July.

Turn Up Awards

The "Turn Up" award was introduced last year to encourage our students to attend school every day.  Each day your child attends their name will be entered into the draw to receive a paddle pop voucher.  A voucher will be issued each week to each class.  If your child attends 5 times in that week they have 5 entries.  If they attend two days in that week they have 2 entries. Congratulations to our winners for Week 10:

K/1B -     Rowan

2/3O -      Theo

4/5/6T -   Lillian S

Home Reading

Congratulations to Ruby for achieving 50 nights of home reading.  Home reading is encouraged at Werris Creek Public School. Just 10 minutes per night can make a difference.  To encourage our students to read at home, we offer some great incentives.  See the image below with our incentive program. If you would like some tips on encouraging your child to read, please see their classroom teacher.

Attendance Matters

Congratulations to the 8 students who are part of our 100% Club.  These students have attended school 100% of the time in Term 2.

We have 35 Students in total attending 90% or above.  Keep up the good work as attendance matters.

If your child is to be absent from school for any reason, please ensure you contact the school office to advise or reply to the SMS message that is sent on the day of absence.  It is important that we notify the department the reason your child is not attending school.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

Parent/Teacher Interviews are taking place again over this week.  This is a great opportunity to meet with your child's teacher to discuss their progress throughout the first semester.  Notes for an appointment have been sent home.  If you have not received a note, please contact the school office.  We ask that you indicate three preferences of dates and times that staff are available and we will endeavour to accommodate you.  If you are unable to make any of the times indicated, please contact us to arrange another time with your child's teacher.

NAIDOC Week

We will be celebrating NAIDOC Week this week.  This year's theme is "50 Years of Deadly" as NAIDOC is now in its 50th year. Yesterday, 12 students in 4/5/6T represented WCPS by attending the NAIDOC Cup at Wallhallow Public School.  Tomorrow, we will hold a small ceremony to mark NAIDOC Week with our students, participate in some activities in the classroom and enjoy a cupcake.  Our 4/5/6T class will then make their way to Werris Creek Hospital to participate in their acknowledgement of NAIDOC week with a flag raising ceremony and lunch and games with the residents.

School Assembly

We will be holding our last assembly for Term 2 this Friday, 3rd July at 2:05pm.  We will be awarding our class awards, Over & Above Awards and Attendance Awards.  We will also announce our Athletics Carnival champions.  All welcome to attend.

Kind regards
