Dear Mother Teresa Community,

Today is the Feast day of our Patron Saint; St Teresa of Calcutta, known as Mother Teresa. Today we gathered in a joyful celebration of her life and her mission. We began the day with a beautiful Mass led by Fr. Reg whose message for our community was to follow Mother Teresa and treat all with love and care as if we were coming in contact with Jesus himself.

The celebration was made even more special as we welcomed back Gen Bryant and her band. Following Mass, our students participated in a variety of activities, such as a workshop with Gen singing and dancing, tabloid sports and learning activities around different saints and voting for the saint that they think shares the same values at Mother Teresa. Our students (and staff) also enjoyed a delicious pizza lunch from Craigieburn Pizza Bar ensuring our day was a perfect blend of  Faith, Hope and Love celebrating the life and service of St Teresa of Calcutta.

Confirmation

Last Sunday, our Grade 6 Confirmation candidates received the Sacrament of Confirmation alongside other candidates from the Our Lady's Parish. Leading up to the day, Sophie Mackinnon our Faith Leader, led a wonderful workshop with our candidates exploring the saints and the fruits of the Spirit, and to hear each student share which saint they aspire to be more like and why!

Congratulations to the newly confirmed children who have taken this important step in their spiritual lives with the support of their families and the Parish community - please continue to pray for them.

Book Week

This year, the theme was Symphony of Stories which means reading is like an orchestra - different books, characters and genres combine to create a rich, diverse, and magical reading experience. We celebrated our love of reading books by discovering the Children's Book Council of Australia’s shortlisted reads as well as by exploring Book Week themed learning experiences such as online author and illustrator talks, Flying Bookworm performances and of course, sharing our costumes for our Dress-Up Day parade!

A huge thank you to our parents for supporting with the costumes for Book Week Parade. It was wonderful to see the way that our community has embraced Book Week Parade to highlight so many different stories and book characters!  A very huge thank you also to Mrs Glasby for organising so many wonderful activities for our students this week as well as Emma and San for their creativity in 'dressing up' our library to show the theme Symphony of Stories AND of course an extra big thank you to all the Mother Teresa staff who got into the spirit of Book Week and also dressed up for our parade on Friday!

  • No soccer or footy boots with spikes are allowed.
  • Students who choose not to dress in sports colours must wear their standard school uniform.

Father's day

On Wednesday and Thursday our school was filled with excitement as students visited our Father’s Day Stall to choose special gifts for the important men in their lives. A huge thank you to our wonderful Parents & Friends (P&F) association for their time and effort in organising and running such a fantastic stall for our children!

Just a reminder that our Father’s Day Open Morning & Morning Tea will be held this coming Monday, 7th September. Classrooms are open from 8.30am with the morning tea being held from 9.15 to 10.00 in the prayer space.

To all the dads, grandfathers, stepdads, uncles, and father figures in our Mother Teresa community: thank you for the love, guidance, and support you provide every day. We hope you have a wonderful, relaxing Father's Day this weekend.

Warm regards,

Jess
