Eureka Division Netball

On the 12th of June, two Miners Rest Primary School teams proudly represented our school at the Eureka Division Netball Competition held at Selkirk Stadium.
Our Girls B Team had an outstanding day, winning all four of their pool matches to secure a place in the grand final. The girls faced St Francis Xavier in a hard-fought and highly competitive match. Both teams displayed excellent skill and determination, with accurate shooting resulting in a goal-for-goal contest throughout the game. At full time, the scores were locked at 4–4, forcing an additional four minutes of time-on play. Despite their best efforts, the girls were narrowly defeated in the final moments, with St Francis Xavier claiming victory 6–5. The team should be incredibly proud of their achievement and the way they competed throughout the day.
Our Mixed A Team also represented Miners Rest with pride and enthusiasm. While they were unable to secure a win against strong opposition from Emmaus, St Patrick’s, St Francis Xavier and St Columba’s, the students continued to demonstrate resilience and determination in every game. Their best performance came in the final match against St Columba’s, where they scored an impressive four goals. Throughout the day, students embraced the opportunity to learn and play a variety of positions, developing their skills and confidence on the court.
Well done to all our students who played with wonderful sportsmanship, teamwork and respect throughout the competition. Congratulations on all your efforts and achievements.
A special thank you goes to Lana and Esther for generously giving up their time to umpire matches throughout the day. Their support and contribution helped make the event a success, and we greatly appreciate their efforts.
