Indonesian:

Year 11 Indonesian students visited Melbourne last Friday, undertaking a discovery session at the Immigration Museum, exploring Indonesian connections with Australia through time. After a stroll through the autumn streets we had lunch at Ria Indonesian restaurant, sampling delights like rendang, sate ayam and ayam geprek, soda gembira and even a Dino Milo. Grand Laguna Supermarket was next on the tour with a shopping list challenge to buy snacks for the Year 9 Indonesian program. A great day out to start the next stage of our course.

German:

Sister School Exchange with Marburg – Update

1. The German group of 16 students and 3 teachers will arrive on September 26th - just as the AFL Grand Final is finishing! The students and teachers will be at Oberon for 4 weeks until Sunday 25th October.
2. The postponed trip to Germany for our 16 students and 2 teachers will head off on Friday 20 November and return on Wednesday 23 December. The travelling group is looking forward to experiencing the Christmas season and also some snow!

Year 9 German restaurant trips

Students studying German in year 9 had the opportunity to visit the local “Das Bierhaus” restaurant and to sample some authentic German food: Schnitzel, Bratwurst or Käsespätzle followed by either Apfelstrudel or Obstsalat. The waiting personnel are mostly German backpackers so many students were able to practise their German. All returned to school happy and certainly not hungry!

Welcome to SAGSE German exchange student

Joyce Woukep Kwopnang from Wuppertal arrived in Australia very early on Tuesday morning and started school on Wednesday. Joyce will be enrolled in year 11 classes for the 10 weeks of her exchange scholarship program. We wish Joyce a wonderful time at Oberon HS and in our region.
