Reflecting on My First Six Months as Principal

With the end of the term and semester upon us, it has been a timely opportunity for me to reflect on my first six months as Principal. Having been a Principal Class member for approximately 13 years, I know that every school presents its own challenges, as well as a range of opportunities and possibilities.

I have been particularly impressed by the enthusiasm of both staff and students, along with the strong sense of collegiality across our school community as we work together to provide every student with a high-quality education.

A Proud and Supportive School Community

Our staff and students are proud of their school, and it has been a real highlight for me to visit classrooms, participate in a variety of forums, and engage in school activities as I have begun getting to know the almost 1,300 staff and students across the school.

From day one, the commitment to supporting students has been evident, and I am truly grateful to be working alongside such a dedicated and hardworking group of colleagues.

Student Voice and Continuous Improvement

Our students have consistently demonstrated their ability to achieve, reflect on their learning, and actively engage in their educational journey.

This was highlighted recently when I met with our Student Leaders and Captains to discuss what is working well in the school and where improvements could be made. The conversation was filled with thoughtful, student-driven ideas that will be shared with staff and School Council next term.

Regardless of year level, students were eager to contribute their thoughts and opinions in a respectful manner, ensuring every voice was heard and valued. We are committed to exploring ways to continue improving our school and are confident in our capacity to grow and evolve over time.

Celebrating Success and Building Partnerships

At our recent whole-school assembly, we recognised a range of students for their positive contributions in the classroom and through the Debating competition. We were also treated to a sneak preview of our school production, which will take place next term.

It was wonderful to see students excited about their achievements and recognised for their efforts and progress.

I would also like to thank the families who have attended our assemblies over the past term and provided valuable feedback on how we can make these events even more meaningful. We will continue to create more opportunities for parent involvement, as this is an area I would like to see grow over time.

We also welcome parents who may be interested in supporting the school through activities, camps, and excursions. In addition, we are keen to strengthen our community partnerships and would appreciate hearing about local businesses, organisations, and community groups that may be able to assist us in creating even more opportunities for our students.

Looking Ahead to Term 3

As we conclude the semester, I would like to wish all students, families, and staff a safe, restful, and enjoyable break.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the start of Term 3, which promises to be an exciting and busy term for our school community.
