2024 Mangrove planting day!

Through a Mornington Shire Grant the  3/4 community teamed up with Oz Fish to assist in the regeneration of the Mangroves in Western Port Bay. The site identified for regeneration was The Hastings Foreshore.  It was a wonderful 2nd day of school spent picking mangrove seeds, preparing the seeds for planting and then getting muddy and planting the mangrove seeds in the best identified sheltered spot in the hope that they will germinate.  

The students will continue to make scientific observations in the coming months and be able to track the planting success rate.  What a great way to start 2024 and what a great start to caring for our local marine environment.  

Well done to all the 3/4 community members. Great resilience and determination for a day 2 of the school year excursion and a very muddy one too.
