ANZAC Day Celebrations

On Friday the 24th of April, us school captains led the ANZAC Day ceremony at our school assembly. We spoke about why we pay our respects to the ANZAC soldiers who protected Australia and New Zealand in WW1.

We laid our school wreath under the Australian flag, along with the wreaths made by students in their classes. Addie read the Ode of Remembrance, followed by Henry L playing the Last Post on his trumpet. After the Last Post, we stood together for a minute of silence. Then Henry played the Rouse, and we sang the national anthem before continuing with our regular assembly.

The next day was ANZAC Day, so we went to Newport to represent our school by sharing the stories of young ANZACs with the community. We watched the march, listened to the Oakleigh Brass Band, and heard folk singers perform Waltzing Matilda. We read stories alongside Sacred Heart and laid a wreath to finish the ceremony.

It was a fantastic experience, and we think even if you don’t go with the school, you should definitely go with your family.

Ride To School Day - Friday 1st May

Gallery Image

We are excited to be celebrating Ride 2 School Day.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students to ride, walk or scoot to school while promoting the benefits of regular exercise, sustainability, and reducing traffic around our school.

To make the day even more fun there will be

  • Prizes for the best decorated bike or scooter
  • A cohort prize for the highest level of participation

To ensure everyone’s safety, please note:

  • Students must wear a helmet when riding or scooting
  • Due to increased foot and bike traffic, each year level will have a designated bike parking zone, so please look for signage/directions on the day.
  • Year 6 leaders will be available to guide students to their correct area on arrival
  • School gates will open earlier at 8:35amto allow time for bikes and scooters to be stored safely before the start of the day
  • Due to the increase in number of students and the size of our school, there will not be an obstacle course to complete this year so students will park their bikes in the designated area and play as normal before school starts at 9am

We encourage all students to take part where possible and look forward to seeing lots of colourful, creative bikes and scooters on the day!
