Hi all

DISTRICT CROSS COUNTRY

The Chelsea District Cross Country Carnival was held on Friday on a glorious May day.  59 students travelled to Cornish College to race 2 kms for the 9/10 Year Olds and 3 kms for the 11 and 12 Year olds.  Most of the kids had been training on Wednesday mornings at school as well as out of school.  The team was ready to run!

Each race had around 70 runners competing and the top ten placegetters go on to compete at the Kingston Division Cross Country Carnival to be held at Cornish College on Wednesday 27th May.

The official results have yet to be finalised but believe we will have around 10 students who will qualify.  Our 11 Year Old Girls were a stand out.  Four of their runners finished in the top 10 and 7 of them finished in the top 15 - that’s an amazing result girls!

Thank you to the parents who came along and supported all of the kids.  We all love having you there.  Thank you Tanya, Julia and Debbie for geeing up the kids and making sure they got to the start line ready to go.

AGE CLASSIFICATIONS

I've had some questions regarding the age classification system used by School Sports Victoria.  The students are allocated according to their year of birth, not what grade level they are in.   Therefore you may have year 6 students in the 11 year old group.  There are three groups:

  • 12 year olds  - those born in 2014
  • 11 year olds  - those born in 2015
  • 9/10 year olds  - those born in 2017 and 2016

AFTER SCHOOL “LEAGUE STARS”

The after school rugby league program had been rescheduled to term 3.  It is a popular program and Term 2 was booked out.  More details will be released later.
