Term 3 Wrap Up:
This term has been a busy one in many ways, with rich R.E. learning happening behind the scenes. In classroom learning, the Preps have completed their unit on ‘Story’ looking at many bible stories in the Old Testament including the story of Noah’s Ark, Abraham and Sarah and Moses and explored these stories through a non literal Catholic lens. Our grade 1/2s completed their unit ‘Imagine’ which focused heavily on understanding Jesus’ parables as a genre and ‘Our Common Home’ as the Catholic Social Teaching. The 3/4's ‘Hospitality’ unit connected the Last Supper Story and the story of Jesus feeding the 5 000 with sharing Eucharist today and the Catholic Social Teaching, ‘Service and Hospitality’. Our 5/6s are finishing up their ‘Integrity Unit’ that had a heavy focus on Pope Francis’ Laudato Si and the Catholic Social Teaching ‘Care for our Common Home’ and invited students to think about how these teachings lead us to be people of integrity to each other and for our world.
Term 4:
Staff are looking forward to their first day back of term working in collaboration with Sacred Heart and St. Brendan’s working on Catholic School Identity with Gina and Justin from the CEOB.
Next term also begins in October which is Mission Month in the church calendar. Mission Month and this time reminds us that together, we have the power to create change and build a more just world for people everywhere. By supporting missionaries in their work, we can create life-changing opportunities for countless children, families, and communities worldwide. This year marks 100 years of Catholic Mission and the theme is ‘One in Christ; United in Mission’. In week 3, we will have our Mission Day celebration and stalls day which is always an exciting day on the school calendar. The senior grades will spend time in the first couple of weeks organising their stalls and activities and more information about the day will be shared once all has been decided.
We will obviously also have the season of Advent begin towards the end of term, Eucharist and Confirmation celebrations in the parish and our end of year Graduation as well next term.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy school holidays.
