Transition
Student Transition
Last week we held the first transition session for our 2027 Prep students. It was lovely to meet all our new students and welcome them to our school.
Our new Prep students attend four face to face sessions between now and the end of the year and have four online story sessions they can attend.
The Transition Sessions for the remainder of the year will also include the rest of our school, enabling us to support your children to transition to next year’s classes. The dates are as follows:
Thursday 5th November
Monday 23rd November
Tuesday 8th December
We use the student sessions to familiarise the students with their new school environment, support them to make connections to children they will attend school with next year, develop confidence in our environment and identify the supports required for the start of next year.
This is as important for our students moving to the next year level as it is for our new Prep students.
Transition for Parents
It is important that we support the whole family to transition to school, so in order to support this we will be holding information sessions for parents as well.
Our new Prep families are invited to attend three sessions, covering topics such as preparing for school, communication and the new school year. The sessions will be held on the following dates:
Thursday 12th November - 7pm online
Tuesday 24th November - 7pm online
Monday 7th December - 7pm face to face
In addition this year our Parents' Association are hosting a Parenting Outloud Session, covering transition. This is a broad topic supporting transition to school, between year levels and into Secondary College. The session will be held this Thursday, 22nd October, at 7.15pm in the Junior Hall.
All families will be supported at the beginning of next year with Level Information Sessions, providing details on routines, expectations and special activities for the year level.
We hope all families take the opportunity to attend the sessions offered in order to connect to the staff and expectations of the new year level.
