This week - Behaviour Spotlight
The words we choose have a big impact on our school community. Speaking respectfully means listening carefully, using a kind tone, and valuing everyone's ideas, even when we disagree. When we speak with kindness, we build a safe, welcoming environment where every student and staff member feels included. Let's work together to lift each other up. Remember: your words have power, so choose them wisely!
Word of the Week: Serendipity
Serendipity is the chance of finding something wonderful, useful, or interesting when you were not expecting to. It often happens when you are looking for one thing but accidentally discover something completely different. Serendipity can happen in everyday life, and these unexpected discoveries can sometimes lead to new ideas, opportunities, or experiences. The word reminds us that not everything has to be planned, because sometimes the most exciting discoveries happen completely by chance. Serendipity is not a rare thing, so here are some ways you might come across it!
- You might be looking for a specific book in the library, but find something that you enjoy loads afterward.
- Whether you walk home, take a bus, catch a train or ride your parents car, you might discover a new park.
- When you are drawing a picture, you may make many mistakes, but the artwork could turn out to be much better than what you had imagined at first.
Tech Time Tales
It’s the holidays! Do you know what makes holidays even funner than they are? TECH! Let's talk about how we can make our holidays techy.
- TV. Only watch appropriate things.
- Gaming consoles. Fun, fast and generally safe for use. A great idea for wet days.
- Drones. Speedy way of seeing the world. Or at least what's around us. Good for sunny days and fun for stunts. Until you need to charge it.
- Computers. Portable for games and also a good idea for bored children. Macbook is the best. No, I’m kidding. Any laptop is great.
ZING active Night
On Wednesday night, students from Year 3-6 attended the ZINGActiv Interschool Dance Challenge at Homebush. They represented our school with the many stunning dances, such as the Jive, Tango and their show dance, to impress the judges. The school won two trophies for overall group points and Year 6 dances. We had a blast and many blue ribbons in our hands. We were legends, and congratulations to all who
participated!
Holiday Fun
Here are some fun things to do during the holidays!
- Plan a Backyard Picnic: Lay out a blanket, pack simple snacks, and enjoy the sunshine together.
- Go on a Nature Treasure Hunt: Kids can search for leaves, colours, shapes, or insects.
- Try a New Outdoor Hobby: Gardening, chalk art, scooter rides, or cloud‑spotting.
- Create a Spring Craft Day: Flower collages, painted rocks, or homemade bookmarks.
- Visit a Local Park or Bushwalk: Explore trails, spot wildlife, and enjoy fresh air.
- Make a Family Reading Hour: Everyone picks a book and reads together outside.
- Cook a Simple Spring Recipe: Fruit salad, wraps, or DIY sandwiches.
- Have a Screen‑Free Afternoon: Board games, puzzles, or backyard games.
- Start a Kindness Challenge: Do one kind thing each day for a family member or neighbour.
- Create a Holiday Memory Jar: Write down fun moments and store them in a decorated jar.
