Year 9 Kitchen Academy with Miss Noulikas

As young, inspiring adolescents, we have been exploring our love for cooking. We get to see the inside scoop of how the magic is made from inside the kitchen walls. We started the journey off by creating delicious lemonade scones and chocolate chip cookies. The lemonade scones turned out fantastic. They were light, airy and crispy. With the touch of whipped cream or strawberry jam, they were perfect. Next were the chocolate chip cookies. They were soft, chewy and mouth-watering. They had the perfect texture, soft on the inside but crunchy on the outside. They were magnificent!

The aroma of the kitchen was spectacular; you could smell the freshly baked decadence in every inch of the kitchen. After only having a few lessons to learn to cook, you could see the enjoyment on each student’s face. It was pure joy! They loved the freedom they had in the kitchen. Being able to step out of the shoes of a stressful student, they could be themselves in the kitchen. Put their love into making food. It added happiness to their day.

The class was able to decide what fantastic dish we were going to be making, by taking a survey. It was a chance for the students to decide what they wanted to make, their dream dish. They were able to explore different techniques and styles of how to cook, as well as learn new cuisines over the lockdown. What matters the most is that every student in the kitchen enjoys what they are making and learning. Hoping to get back into a kitchen at school. Making wonderful food and tasting amazing dishes, is something everyone is looking forward to!
