Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

“Empowering students for learning and life”

As we come to the end of Term 3, I reflect on the work that students and families have done at home to continue with Remote Learning. It is a challenge. We know that some students thrive in this situation and some students struggle. Research that has been done shows that although some students fall behind in Remote Learning, the gap is not as great as what we might imagine and catch up does happen when students return to school.

Wellbeing is a priority and we are endeavouring to contact all of our families to check in with you. I am very proud of all of our students for managing in a way that they can. If a student is struggling, there are suggested Wellbeing supports on our school website on the Wellbeing page.

Wellbeing - Lyndhurst Secondary College -

Thank you to parents/carers and other family members for your support of our students. You have done a magnificent job at home. From Friday, it is time for everyone to take a well deserved break over the holiday period.

Please see further information about vaccinations for students later in this newsletter.

The GAT will take place on Tuesday 5 October for all students completing a Unit 3 and 4 study. Monday 1st November, the day before Cup Day, will be our Term 4 Professional Learning Day.

As Acting Principal, I have learnt a great deal this term and I admire the staff of the school for their professionalism and their care of our students. It is a privilege to work at Lyndhurst Secondary College as Acting Principal with friendly and caring students, supportive families, a committed Leadership team, a dedicated Wellbeing Team, hard working and knowledgeable teaching staff and highly supportive Education Support staff. Lyndhurst is a school that successfully provides for its diverse student community with many wonderful learning opportunities to ensure students succeed and are empowered to learn.

Finally, I encourage all students to continue to read at home, as we know that students who continue independent reading achieve better in all subjects.

(See the Compass Newsfeed from if you would like to borrow books from the library for the holidays).

Kind regards
