Living at Lockington

Dreamtime at the G

The cold and wet Melbourne weather has set in but that hasn’t stopped the MITS students from getting involved in a variety of activities over the past three weeks!

Our weekends have been very football orientated with all 22 playing for Richmond Junior Footy Club and getting to know their new teammates and coaches. On the weekend RJFC recognised Reconciliation Week and the Sir Doug Nicholls Round with many MITS students being captain for the day and being acknowledged for their great performances by winning medals and awards.

The lead up to Dreamtime at the G was amazing as you can see in the photos! We enjoyed making the banner and lunch with the players at Lockington. Some students then watched the VFLW and VFL before performing the Guard of Honour for the VFL match. On the night the 2019 crew performed a Guard of Honour on the MCG in front of 80,000 people and then watched the match with over 80 past MITS students, host families and schools.

Other fantastic activities on the weekend and after school have included cooking at Food and Desire, being in the live TV audience of the Fox Footy program Bounce, shopping at Chadstone, a St Kevin’s production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and relaxing with card games and board games around Lockington.
