Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS)

Mental Health and Wellbeing

It is lovely to be back in Term two after a break, hopefully the reset provided a much-needed rest for all families, carers and students.

It can be helpful to remember that even though we have completed a full term, transitioning back after any break can still be at times challenging for some students. Some useful strategies for families can be:

*Re-establishing routines and expectations

*Involving children in getting prepared for school

*Visual timetables/prompts for before and after school routines

*Normalise feelings

*Connect where possible – a few minutes to talk about the day goes a long way

Introducing our Wellbeing Captains

I take great pleasure in introducing you to Marissa and Asha, both from 6C who are our 2026 Wellbeing Captains.

These girls demonstrate great passion and empathy for this space and their role, and will be starting a wellbeing lunchtime club this term on Mondays, second half of lunch in the library. Last term they surveyed their peers to determine what interests and needs our students have, so all are welcome to join.

They have some wonderful ideas this year and I am thrilled to be working with them.

You’ve Got Mail!

You may have spotted this new letter box in the office space when you first walk into our school – this is our new CRPS Wellbeing postbox! This is for students who may wish to express a worry/thought/concern or who perhaps even has a question/challenge they aren’t sure how to raise, or to whom, or may not even feel comfortable or confident enough talking about it. There will be a guaranteed response (written/verbal) to any letter/note received.

I would like to express my HUGEST gratitude for Mrs Schwass’ father-in-law Brian, who was the clever, creative human behind bringing this idea to life – please come and admire his handiwork and leave a note if you like!

My door is always open to discuss anything, otherwise please feel free to email or call. Have a wonderful week,
